(ASX: JAL) Jameson Resources Limited Financial Review - FY2021~25

Jameson Resources remained a pre-production Crown Mountain developer across FY2021–FY2025. Equity funding and Bathurst contributions supported evaluation work, but rising project spending and liabilities left a much narrower working-capital cushion by FY2025.

Years ended 30 June 2021–2025 · A$ million unless stated · existing annual-extraction evidence only · Editorial review: 2026-10-03 · MII Research

Five years in context

Jameson’s principal disclosed activity is the Crown Mountain steelmaking-coal development project in British Columbia, held through NWP Coal Canada. The evidence describes permitting, feasibility and evaluation rather than operating mine output; this review does not turn study assumptions into revenue, production or valuation results.

FY2025 brought higher closing cash but a much smaller working-capital cushion as current liabilities increased. Equity raisings continued to fund development while the company still needed additional capital for the following twelve months.

Events behind the numbers

FY2021

Assessment preparation and partner-funding change

Technical assessments for the environmental application were completed. Bathurst had elected not to continue sole funding under the identified advance option, leaving project costs to be contributed pro rata pending later decisions.

FY2022

Environmental application submitted

The saved annual record says the environmental application was completed and submitted to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada on 30 April 2022; this is a regulatory process milestone, not an approval or construction start.

FY2023

Funding and assessment-process progress

The issuer reported an assessment-process agreement with Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it First Nation and a A$5m placement while it continued Crown Mountain progress.

FY2024

Shareholder loans converted to equity

All NWP shareholder loans owing to Jameson and Bathurst were converted to equity at 30 June 2024. This is an ownership/capital-structure event, not operating cash inflow for the year.

FY2025

Feasibility update, option exercise and funding boundary

The May 2025 feasibility update considered higher capital and operating costs. NWP exercised two Canwel options subject to remaining approvals, while the accounts and audit report identified material going-concern uncertainty and a need for further capital.

FINANCIAL REVIEW / 01

Group financial position: project carrying balance, cash and liabilities

The Group’s capitalised exploration-and-evaluation carrying amount rose across the five annual observations, from A$32.948m in FY2021 to A$52.193m in FY2025. That closing asset balance is not the same as the annual investing outflow. At FY2025 the auditor identified that balance as a Key Audit Matter; the company stated no impairment triggers were identified, which remains the issuer’s accounting assessment rather than a conclusion by this review.

Total liabilities were A$2.963m in FY2025, compared with a much smaller FY2024 total in the own-year statement. The FY2025 packet does not provide matching total-assets or total-equity fact rows, so the report preserves the four-year historical assets/equity table and separately shows the available FY2025 liabilities, cash and E&E balance.

The FY2025 balance-sheet extraction does not supply an interest-bearing-debt amount. That absence is not treated as a zero-debt conclusion. The issuer says it has no ready access to credit facilities and relies principally on Bathurst investment and equity raisings, which remains a separate funding boundary.

FINANCIAL REVIEW / 02

Statutory result: recurring costs, loss and cash are not interchangeable

Each year in the selected series reports a statutory loss. Corporate and compliance fees peaked in FY2023, then fell to lower levels in FY2024 and FY2025, with a slight FY2025 increase; employee-benefit expense remained a separately disclosed recurring P&L line. The table retains signed expense presentation so that a negative cost does not look like positive income.

The FY2025 statutory loss was smaller than FY2024’s. The statement also records a A$0.094m foreign-exchange gain in FY2025 after a A$0.124m loss in FY2024, while employee-benefits and corporate/compliance expenses were both higher. Those disclosed lines provide context without assigning the full year-on-year loss movement to any one item.

FINANCIAL REVIEW / 03

Cash deployment and funding: cash-flow lanes remain distinct

Exploration-and-evaluation payments were an investing cash-flow line throughout the period. FY2025 net investing outflow exceeded that line because it also included a Canwel option payment; neither row is used as a proxy for the closing exploration-and-evaluation asset.

Equity proceeds were the larger source of financing cash each year, alongside Bathurst calls. The statement records cash actually received and issue costs paid; those receipts are not equated to the announced placement sizes.

The funding structure also changed in accounting form: NWP shareholder loans were converted to equity at 30 June 2024 and again described as converted at 30 June 2025. Those non-cash balance-sheet/equity movements should not be read as annual cash proceeds, or as proof of the Group’s debt position, in the cash-flow chart.

Financing is the net cash-flow subtotal. Bathurst cash calls are a component, not a synonym for total financing. FINANCIAL REVIEW / 04

Crown Mountain: development evidence and accounting perimeter

Crown Mountain progressed from completed technical assessments and a targeted application submission in FY2021 to a submitted environmental application in FY2022, then to ongoing regulatory/technical review in FY2024. The FY2025 feasibility update reported higher pre-production capital and operating-cost assumptions than the earlier study. These are project-development disclosures, not current mine operations or realised financial results.

The packet records that the project is held through NWP Coal Canada, with Jameson’s overall interest changing following the loan conversions. Bathurst’s construction-funding option is discretionary and the company says it is no longer the sole funding contributor; prospective study funding is therefore a boundary rather than assured funding.

FINANCIAL REVIEW / 05

Accounting and comparability boundaries

The FY2025 report restated the FY2024 comparative for non-controlling-interest and foreign-currency-reserve matters, including a reallocation within equity attributable to members of the parent. The record does not establish this as a change in Group total equity. Historical tables use each year’s original extracted statement observations and identify the later restatement here rather than blending the two bases.

At FY2025 the audit report drew attention to a material uncertainty related to going concern, without modifying its opinion. The directors’ forecast required additional capital over the following 12 months. This report records the disclosure and does not make a solvency or financing recommendation.

Reading the figures

  • All displayed financial values are Group/consolidated statutory observations unless a note states otherwise. Values are A$ million; early annual fact rows use a “$” header, while later Group context identifies Australian dollars as the presentation currency.
  • FY2025 total assets and total equity were not supplied as matching fact rows in the frozen packet. They are not calculated from other rows. FY2025 liabilities, cash, the Group E&E carrying amount and net working capital remain reported separately.
  • The FY2025 report contains a restated FY2024 comparative for NCI/foreign-currency-reserve matters. Historical series retain their own source-year observation rather than mixing original and later-restated values.
  • Crown Mountain feasibility, resource, capital-cost and prospective debt figures are issuer project-study disclosures. They are not cash, revenue, production, debt outstanding or a valuation conclusion in this report.
  • Prepared from existing year-by-year extraction records only. No raw-source retrieval, database query, financial web research or MiniMax call. GPT review against saved extractions; not an independent original-document audit.
