Information you provide

Reading public research does not require an account. Registration is required for site search, comments and comment reports. We collect an email address, display name and password. Passwords are stored as salted cryptographic hashes, not as the original password. Comments, reports, moderation status and necessary account timestamps are stored when those features are used.

If you email us, your address, message and attachments are used to handle your enquiry through our email provider. Send only information necessary for your request.

Technical information and essential cookies

Hosting and security systems may process IP addresses, browser information, request times and requested URLs to deliver and protect the site. An essential, HTTP-only session cookie keeps members signed in.

Google Analytics

MII loads Google Analytics 4 only after you allow optional analytics. You can reject analytics or change your choice using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Withdrawing consent stops further collection and reloads the page; it does not erase information already received by Google. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and process device and interaction information. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from partner sites.

Advertising

MII is preparing for advertising; this notice does not mean that AdSense has approved the site or that ads are currently enabled. If Google advertising is enabled, Google and participating third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Advertising cookies can enable personalised ads based on those visits.

Manage Google personalised advertising through My Ad Center and learn about participating vendors’ choices at YourAdChoices. These settings are separate from site account preferences and do not necessarily prevent all advertising or measurement.

MII uses Google Privacy & messaging for advertising choices in covered European regions and supported US states. The Google advertising tag on public pages connects these messages and may process technical information needed to provide the service. European messages provide consent, refusal and options management; US messages provide a sale or sharing opt-out. Availability depends on region, Google site approval and message delivery. This policy is not itself a consent mechanism.

When Google consent controls are available, Advertising privacy choices appears in the footer of public pages to reopen them. Google may also display Privacy and cookie settings or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information links for your region. Analytics consent is separate: allowing analytics does not grant advertising consent. If you need help with an unavailable control, contact us using the address below.

Comments and moderation

Normal comments from verified members are published immediately. Comments may be screened for spam, abuse, manipulation, solicitation and personal data. Reported comments are hidden pending review and may be restored or removed. Moderation records may be retained for abuse prevention and audit purposes.

Retention, providers and security

Accounts, enquiries and moderation records are retained as needed for their stated purposes, legal obligations and site security. Service providers may process information outside your country. Third-party links operate under their own policies. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and contact

You can read public reports without registering. Browser settings can restrict cookies, although blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in.
